Senior Project Officer – Aboriginal Targeted 

  • Temporary full-time vacancy of 12 months with the possibility of extension. 35 hours per week. 
  • Location: This role is based in Sydney CBD. Flexible and hybrid working options available.
  • Clerk Grade: 9/10. Base salary $129,464 to $142,665 p.a. plus super and annual leave loading.

At NSW Trustee and Guardian our purpose is to support the rights, welfare, and interests of the people of NSW. The agency supports the NSW Trustee, the Public Guardian and the Commissioner of Dormant Funds to carry out their statutory functions. We do this by providing a range of customer-centred services, including Will-making, trustee, financial management and guardianship services, including some for the state’s most vulnerable people.  

We support over 50,000 customers annually and manage almost seven billion dollars in customer assets. A NSW government agency within the Communities and Justice Portfolio, our services help support and protect people at critical moments in their lives.

The Information and Technology team delivers secure, modern, and efficient digital services by maintaining robust technological infrastructure, developing and supporting critical business applications, and leading strategic technology initiatives aligned with the organisation’s objectives.    

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Information and Technology team and contribute to the delivery of high-impact digital and business transformation initiatives at NSW Trustee and Guardian. You will play a key role in strengthening project delivery across a diverse portfolio, ensuring projects are well-governed, aligned to organisational priorities, and delivered to a high standard, while providing trusted advice and assurance to senior leadership. 

As the Senior Project Officer, you will:  

  • Partner with stakeholders to establish strong project foundations and monitor delivery across the full project lifecycle.
  • Support portfolio, program, and project delivery, including identifying risks, trends, and escalation points.
  • Maintain and improve project management frameworks, templates, and processes to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Provide high-quality reporting, insights, and assurance to support decision-making by senior leadership.
  • Support building capability across the team through onboarding, Communities of Practice, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proactively identify issues and develop practical, solution-focused recommendations in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for project management tools, providing guidance and support to users.

About you 

The ideal person will have: 

  • You bring demonstrated experience supporting ICT project, program or portfolio delivery, with a strong understanding of governance, risk, and reporting in complex environments. Exposure to business transformation or operational projects is beneficial but not essential.
  • You have a solid grasp of project management methodologies and can apply them flexibly across ICT initiatives.
  • You are an effective communicator who can engage and influence stakeholders, coordinate across teams, and support informed decision-making.
  • You are highly organised and analytical, with the ability to produce clear, high-quality documents, dashboards, and insights for senior audiences.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Power BI, SharePoint, or PPM tools) and advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills for reporting and analysis.
  • You are proactive and solutions-focused, able to identify risks, resolve issues, and contribute to continuous improvement across project delivery practices.
