REPORTS TO: Transportation Operations Manager and Transportation Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To assist the bus driver in providing safe transportation for all students on the school bus.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: • High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred. • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately. • Demonstrated ability to work with students who have special needs and identify by classification. • Basic knowledge of student behavior management; good communication skills. • Training in safety for students in a transportation setting. • Knowledge of emergency procedures, which includes, but is not limited to, medical and conduct emergencies, bus accidents, and evacuation. • Physical demands - must be able to sit the majority of the day; stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl occasionally; must be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. • Attendance and punctuality are crucial. JOB DUTIES: • Is present at work every day and arrives at assigned time. • Demonstrates an attitude and demeanor that contributes to an atmosphere of harmony and goodwill in the workplace. 2 • Interacts in a professional manner with students, staff, and school/district leaders. • Assists the driver in loading and unloading students, and securing all students in the prescribed seating positions. • Performs a pre-trip, and post-trip, inspection of the bus interior, checking all equipment. • Stays familiar with student names, stops, stop times, and medical information and needs. • Maintains daily log of student behavior. • Monitors and maintains appropriate student behavior. • Assists substitute driver with route and procedures. • Appropriately operates all equipment, restraint systems, and assistive devices in the prescribed manner. • Attends approved training sessions, staff development activities, and required meetings. • Practices proper techniques and universal precautions for cleaning up body fluids. • Complies with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, or any criminal activity for which the employee becomes aware. • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
