
Instruction and Implementation Lead
Job Description

Primary Purpose:
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Primary Curriculum and Instruction and in direct partnership with the Primary Managing Directors, the Instruction & Implementation Lead manages a portfolio of 7 to 10 campuses and drives the execution of curriculum and instructional systems at a cohort of assigned campuses to accelerate student achievement across primary content areas. This role is responsible for ensuring implementation fidelity of network curriculum, building instructional capacity through coaching and professional development, and using data to inform targeted support. While initially deployed with an ELAR or Math focus, this role is designed to expand into all-subjects instructional leadership as coaches build capacity across content areas. Every IIL coaching interaction operates from the premise that effective instruction for emergent bilingual learners is effective instruction for all students. Linguistic access and EB-responsive pedagogy are embedded expectations in all walkthroughs, coaching cycles, and campus improvement work.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Teacher and Leader Professional Development (20%)
- Design and deliver high-quality, differentiated professional development for campus leadership teams and teacher cohorts, building instructional leadership capacity at every level of the campus organization with an emphasis on applied practice and curriculum implementation fidelity
- Collaborate with Lead Curriculum Developers and cross-functional partners to align coaching efforts with curriculum design intent and content vision across assigned campuses
- Serve as an executive instructional coach to campus administrators, delivering content-specific leadership development through whole group, small group, and one-on-one coaching, with attention to meeting the needs of all learners across proficiency levels
- Assist campus leaders in designing, preparing, and facilitating content-specific professional development around instructional planning and data-driven response cycles
- Provide curricular leadership to school leaders by utilizing research-based teaching and learning practices and adult learning principles
- Build instructional capacity through modeling, co-teaching, and reflective feedback cycles that demonstrate effective implementation of network curriculum
- Partner with Managing Directors to co-develop campus instructional improvement strategies, aligning coaching priorities to network goals and holding shared accountability for instructional outcomes across the portfolio
Instructional Coaching and Support (40%)
- Monitor implementation of curriculum across all campuses in the assigned portfolio through structured cycles of observation and feedback (walkthroughs, instructional rounds, school reviews)
- Execute a coordinated support strategy for assigned campuses, prioritizing schools with the greatest instructional need based on data
- Monitors and coaches on the implementation of linguistically responsive teaching practices during every campus visit. Ensures campus leaders and teachers understand that EB supports (structured academic discussion, visual supports, vocabulary development, comprehensible input) are default instructional practices, not interventions reserved for a subset of students.
- Engage in scholar work analysis with teachers to strengthen the connection between curriculum intent and instructional delivery
- Coach campus leaders and teachers on effective instructional techniques, lesson execution, and differentiation strategies, building the capacity of administrators to lead instructional improvement independently
- Support teachers in differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs, including scaffolding strategies for students at varying proficiency levels
- Conduct lesson modeling and demonstration teaching to showcase implementation of curriculum-aligned best practices
- Assess individual teacher development needs and customize coaching support accordingly
- Provide encouragement and support to teachers throughout the coaching process, particularly when implementing new instructional practices
- Assist teachers in implementing instructional materials aligned with curriculum standards and network content vision
- Support teachers with technology integration, software products, and digital curriculum resources
- Provide clear, direct, and actionable feedback to teachers based on analysis of practice, and track progress to assess coaching effectiveness
Data Analysis and Instructional Decision Making (20%)
- Support identification and reclassification testing for Emergent Bilinguals, including Beginning of Year, End of Year, and Welcome to Uplift Day assessments
- Includes emergent bilingual student outcomes as a standing data point in all campus improvement conversations with Managing Directors, ensuring EB progress is treated as a shared accountability metric alongside general population performance.
- Analyze scholar assessment data across the full campus portfolio and lead data-informed instructional strategy conversations with school leaders to drive targeted adjustments
- Use data to identify patterns in instructional practice, determine coaching priorities, refine instructional practices, and define targeted intervention support
- Work with campus leaders to establish and maintain data-driven instructional cycles
- Support teachers in using assessment data to inform daily instruction and respond to student needs
Curriculum Feedback and Cross-Team Alignment (20%)
- Serve as the primary feedback channel from the field to Lead Curriculum Developers, synthesizing implementation data across 7 to 10 campuses to identify systemic patterns and inform curriculum revisions
- Collaborate with Lead Curriculum Developers and peer Instruction & Implementation Leads to ensure field coaching aligns with curriculum design intent and network standards
- Help teachers develop a deep understanding of and deconstruct TEKS and ELPS for their grade level and content area
- Participate in and facilitate curriculum review committees with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university required
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Reading, or related field preferred
- Instructional coaching certification or training preferred
- International Baccalaureate experience preferred
- Must have a valid Texas Teacher Certification. Endorsement in Bilingual and/or ESL education preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum five years of classroom teaching experience in elementary settings
- Formal school leadership or executive coaching experience (Assistant Principal, Dean of Instruction, Instructional Coach) strongly preferred
- Leadership experience providing teachers and leaders with content-specific professional development
- Demonstrated and measurable student achievement on state assessments (STAAR or equivalent)
- Experience with adult learning principles and coaching methodologies
- Experience in individual teacher needs assessment and customized support planning

- Deep knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices across primary content areas, with demonstrated ability to build the instructional leadership capacity of campus administrators and translate curriculum design into effective classroom practice at scale
