Position Title: Summer School Nurse—Location James Monroe High School

 

Job Description:

  • Individual will provide health services for students attending the summer school program.
  • Duties will include basic and specialized health care procedures and assisting of special needs students such as, but not limited to, lifting, transferring, mobility, toileting, feeding and supervising children for Monroe County Schools.
  • Daily overview of basic health needs, triage and treat students as they come in, and administer daily medications.
  • Take and maintain inventory of health supplies in nursing office.
  • Individual will share in the responsibility of protecting students, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Maintain positive work habits
  • Perform all duties efficiently and productively while maintaining confidentiality of student's protected educational and health related information.
  • Individual must have the ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and those with special needs while acting as a contributing member of school staff.
  • The individual must have basic computer skills to include, but not limited to, word processing, email and internet usage.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for Professional Student Support Certification for School Nurse.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Valid Registered Nurse License issued by the West Virginia Board of Examiners.
  • Successful completion of an accredited School Nurse Program. 

 

Effective Date:

  • June 29, 2026, through July 31, 2026, not to exceed 40 hours per week.
  • This position is for James Monroe High School to cover medical needs of students Grades K-12.
  • Summer School will run Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm.

 

Salary: $25 per hour 

Deadline for Application: May 13, 2026, at 3 PM
