Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Operation Manager of Medical Respite reports to the Director, Peer Services, DC Hope Center. The OM collaborates with the VOAC Medical Respite Specialist, the HHAH medical respite partners (Unity Health and Pathways to Housing) to ensure safety for persons served. This position supports the daily administrative operation of both the Men's and Women’s Medical Respite programs comprising four houses (two Women’s homes and two Men’s homes). In addition, the OM provides operational and programmatic support to all other HHAH staff (drivers, LPNs), maintaining house operations, working shifts as needed if a Medical Respite Counselor or Specialist calls out, and partnering with the leadership team to maintain a safe and orderly program in accordance with Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s and Carolina’s policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Available by phone as needed, to ensure on-going operational integrity.
  • Provides day- to-day support for all HHAH staff as needed
  • Works as a part of a team to maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment for all persons served, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Reports and documents unsafe conditions to VOACC and HHAH leadership staff and immediate supervisor within 24 hours of notification.
  • Participates in regular staff meetings with HHAH and VOACC leadership staff.
  • Supervises Senior House Monitors
  • Works in close conjunction with the Senior House Monitor assigned to the home to resolve repairs and maintenance as needed within 24 hours.
  • Insure fire and other-safety procedures area carried out as directed.
  • Ensure the homes are stocked with all essentials--groceries, household items, office supplies and medical supplies
  • Coordinate house cleaning with assigned contractors.
  • Support SHM’s in shift coverage for call-outs
  • Reinforce all house rules and chore schedule for residents.
  • Coordinate request for IT and and maintenance support
  • Reconcile credit cards receipts.
  • Manage car logs and coordinate maintenance as needed.
  • Schedule exterminations and grounds keeping as needed.
  • Reinforce Household Guidelines as in the SOP’s (room cleanliness, common areas)
  • Complete any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director, Peer Services.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of experience working with homeless, and or at risk populations.

  • Must be able to pass successfully all training requirements as determined by the District of Columbia Department of Human Services.

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid active and maintained required.

  • Current active Driver’s license required and ability to pass the VOACC MVR guidelines to transport when needed persons served in a 15 passenger van or other vehicle when needed. 

  • Strong PC skills in a Windows environment (i.e. Word, Excel, Power point and email)

  • Ability to use independent judgment and address conflict and find resolutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Bilingual in any language a plus.

  • Collaborates on a daily basis with all staff at HHAH so they can discharge their duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Ensures needs of the person served by HHAH are met and client satisfaction is achieved.

  • Ensures individuals are supported in being participatory members of their community according to their interests.

  • Programs are marketed to potential participants, volunteers and to the community.

  • All services are provided in a manner consistent with Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s and Carolina’s core values, mission, and principles as well as in accordance with policies, procedures, practices and licensing standards.

  • Conditions for continued employment are to meet all expectations of the DC region regarding certifications and expectations from stakeholder/funding sources and VOACC policies and procedures.

  • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies as necessary.

  • The physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment.

  • Operating office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.

  • The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time
