About the Role:
The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a medical facility. This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen collection. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment by properly sterilizing medical instruments and managing specimen processing accurately. Additionally, this role requires effective communication skills to answer phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate with nurse practitioners and other healthcare staff. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the overall efficiency of the healthcare team.
We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time, Medical Assistant at Dr. Pradeep Mahal M.D. office in Union, NJ.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
- Assist healthcare providers, including nurse practitioners, during medical examinations and procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy and draw blood samples following proper protocols and safety standards.
- Process and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing and ensure proper sterilization of medical instruments.
- Manage front desk duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records.
Skills:
The required skills such as medical assisting, phlebotomy, and specimen processing are essential for performing clinical tasks accurately and safely on a daily basis. Proficiency with medical instruments and sterilization ensures a hygienic environment, reducing the risk of infection and maintaining patient safety. Drawing blood and taking vital signs require precision and attention to detail, which are critical for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Effective communication skills, including answering phones and coordinating with nurse practitioners, facilitate smooth patient flow and enhance the overall patient experience. Preferred skills like familiarity with EHR systems and bilingual communication further improve efficiency and accessibility in a diverse healthcare setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques.
- Strong communication skills and ability to handle multi-line phone systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Experience working alongside nurse practitioners or in a similar clinical setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Additional certifications such as CPR or First Aid.
- Experience in patient scheduling and administrative healthcare operations.
- Bilingual abilities to assist a diverse patient population.
