Job Description


The Landfill Associate provides customer service and support for our County Landfill operation. This position will be a team member within the Landfill department. Within this role the candidate will be expected to work together in a safe and productive environment. This role supports a seven-day-a-week operation. Schedule will include some weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.

  • Inspect vehicles to determine acceptability of load or appropriate location of load.
  • Assist Landfill customers at the waste/recycling collection convenience center; including taking payments, routing traffic to appropriate locations and physically handling and disposing of garbage and recyclables. 
  • Operate computerized scales to weigh in-going and outgoing vehicles with garbage and recyclables. 
  • Accept and balance payments from scale and convenience center customers. 
  • Close out daily scale house and convenience center and prepare/balance appropriate deposit/financial reports. 
  • Answer and assist customers either by phone or in person. 
  • Operation of backhoe and skid steer will be expected as training will be given. 
  • Conduct general maintenance of equipment including safety inspections and cleaning. 
  • Housekeeping duties will be expected to ensure cleanliness of facilities associated with the landfill, basic sweeping, dusting and cleaning. 
  • Performs other job related duties as trained and assigned. 


Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. 

Experience: Previous cash handling experience is a plus. Prior skid steer and backhoe experience is preferred.

Computer Skills: Prior experience with data-entry and computers preferred. Prior Microsoft Windows usages preferred. 

License/Credentials: Possession of a valid driver’s license is required. Any Microsoft certifications are an advantage.
