As our Automated Parking Certification Engineer you will lead regulatory compliance of autonomous Parking systems in China, as well as support our Automated Parking development.
Your tasks are to track and interpret regulations and standards related to autonomous driving and parking, participate in industry conferences, analyze the requirements of the regulations and implement them in product development – always with a clear mindset of delivering the best customer experience in Mercedes-Benz cars.
You will assist in setting up test scenarios and completing verification work, supporting the preparation of materials for vehicle entry certification.
And you will continuously follow the industry evaluation system to ensure the full process compliance of the autonomous parking function, successfully pass the certification and achieve market launch.
In parallel you will take additional responsibilities to develop the best Automated Parking functionalities for our customers in the China market. For this, you will be responsible to design the functional user journeys, use case based on user experience and after sale cases. You will decompose the requirements to partner systems on vehicle level and consolidate the requirements to system functions, defining KPIs and ensure development in time and quality.
To ensure the customer function fulfills our customer needs and targets, you need to develop functional KPI requirements and promote their implementation in various subsystems; At the same time, track and verify the performance status of KPIs.
Managing functional development risks, countermeasures and ensure timely delivery of features should be your daily goal.
Tasks:
Cooperation - Contacting with stakeholders within the company to proceed the parking related function rollout and release, such as technical regulations, strategy, validation, etc…
- Contacting with the function owner, HMI, system team, software developers to make sure function design complies with regulatory requirements.
- Contacting with Automotive Standards Committee, to abreast of the latest developments in parking related regulations

Regulatory research and conformity assessment - regulatory tracking: Covering China's GB, GB/T, ECE UN R79, UN R158, FMVSS 111 and other global mainstream regulations, establish compliance checklist.
- Translate the regulations into functional design requirements, clearly defining the activation conditions, safety boundaries, HMI rules and RMF for parking-related functions such as APA/RPA/AVP, to ensure that the functions comply with the regulations.
- Participate in the formulation and revision of parking regulations, align with national standards and international regulations, and establish compliance norms for parking functions.

Requirements of the Customer Function - Requirements analysis of all requirements allocated from the regulations, customer complaints, after sales, benchmark, etc.
- Consolidate the Requirements to the customer function specification, write the consolidate requirements for each system on vehicle level.
- Allocate the requirements to the System Function engineers and clarify the requirements to partner systems.
- Link the Requirements from the customer function to the consolidated system function requirements.
- Communicate the consolidated requirements to affected customer function owners, approval for these requirements must be obtained from system engineers

Technical solution - Lead for technical concepts (+ alternative concepts)
- Identify the contributors needed to resolve the requirements.
- Develop a technical solution concept together with the contributors.
- Documentation of technical solution concepts.
- Communicate technical solution concepts with affected system function owners, get approval for these technical solution concepts.
- Makes the final decision regarding open questions about the technical concept and implementation. Document these decisions in a way that everyone can see.
- Documents the technical architecture view (e.g. technical effect chain) of the system function in a comprehensible and reusable way. Ensures that the form and structure is in quality and form defined by the company and/or project.
- Lead the solution for performance issue, can have deep analysis and evaluation on the solution proposal.

Testing and Certification Execution - Design test cases based on regulations and national standards, covering functional compliance, performance indicators, and abnormal scenarios.
- Assist in the domestic CCC / announcement and other certification processes, connect with third-party institutions (such as China Automotive Research Institute), coordinate tests, handle abnormalities, and follow up on reports and certificates.
- The scheduling, resources and execution of the autonomous parking function testing activities, including bench testing, vehicle testing, and third-party institution testing, as well as monitoring the progress and quality of the testing.

Function compliance guarantee - Identify the compliance risks brought about by regulatory changes and technical scheme alterations, and formulate corresponding measures.
- Establish a regulatory - design - test - certification process to ensure traceability, and support audits and compliance reviews.
- Organize training on ADAS regulations, explain the updated contents and compliance requirements of the regulations to the R&D, testing and other teams, and enhance the compliance awareness and capabilities of the teams.

Preparation and Execution of Certification Materials - Lead the formulation of the entire process for the access certification of the autonomous parking system, including the establishment of the certification plan and timeframes.
- Assist in preparing the complete set of technical materials required for certification, including compliance statements, system descriptions, test reports, regulatory compliance lists, etc., to ensure that the materials are complete and compliant.
- Responsible for communication, analysis and rectification of compliance issues during the certification process, ensuring that the autonomous driving function successfully passes the access review and obtains the certificate.

Education
MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or Automobile or equivalent qualification.
Experience
More than 3 years of R&D experience with parking assistance system, Automated parking system development.
Specific knowledge
Deep knowledge of Rating/Certification and Homologation process of AD system.
Good knowledge of System Design/System Architecture/Software Architecture of AD system.
Good knowledge of Requirements Management/Engineering.
Has a cooperative mindset and good communication skills.
Strong ability to build-up and maintain relationships with certification authority & suppliers.
Fluent in English language, additional German helpful.
