Job Description

The Kaplan Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a candidate for projects focused on understanding mechanisms of human disease using mammalian cell line models. Specifically, the candidate should have experience in mammalian cell line work and molecular biological techniques. The projects will focus on creating cell models for human disease alleles using CRISPR/Cas9 editing and genomic/deep sequencing analysis of model alleles, including the establishment of a Multiplexed Assay of Variant Effects. Experience with CRISPR/Cas9, genomic library construction, and the handling and analysis of genomic data using command line packages is a strong positive. Strong communication skills and organization are required.

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.

Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time; Must be able to ambulate across complex and campus; Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
