
Dental Assistant - Part Time Saturdays 7am-3:30pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures

Assists with the taking and development of dental radiographs (x-rays)

Asks about the patient's medical history and takes vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temp, and respirations)

Assists the dentist and management staff with developing infection control protocols specific to dental procedures

Dons and maintains integrity of Personal Protective Equipment during the performance and clean-up following dental procedures

Prepares and sterilizes instruments and equipment used in the dental suite

Provides patients with instructions for oral care following dental treatment procedures

Teaches patients’ appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing)

Takes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth)

Performs office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer

Communicates with nursing staff, dentists, practitioners, suppliers, jail facility and patients as appropriate and directed by the site dentist

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipates needed supplies; places and expedites orders for supplies as approved by the dentist; verifies receipt of supplies

Maintains control and perpetual inventory of sharps stored in the dental suite

Reports for work as scheduled and is prepared to begin work at the assigned time

Any and all other duties as assigned

Certification in field applying for preferred
-
2+ years of related experience
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
-
Strong computer, Internet, and email skills
