Job Description

Role: Senior Build Certainty Integrator

Locations: Hybrid working with one of the following locations as primary: Derby, Warrington or Manchester

Our Mission

Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) provides a British solution to a global energy crisis. We are in pole position to become a world leader in SMRs and the UK’s premier green export technology.

The Team (Build Certainty)

The Build Certainty team operates at the critical intersection of design, construction and delivery. We focus on integration, standardisation and schedule confidence, ensuring that complex first‑of‑a‑kind designs can be built safely, predictably and repeatedly, supporting the long‑term success of the SMR programme.

The Role

In this context, we are looking for a Build Certainty Integrator reporting to the Senior Build Certainty Lead within Engineering. This is a highly influential individual contributor role, operating across multi‑disciplinary teams. Its purpose is to integrate design and delivery thinking early, reduce schedule risk and enable a transition from first‑of‑a‑kind complexity to repeatable, scalable SMR build.

What We’ll Need You to Do

We’ll need you to:

  • Embedding build certainty, standardisation and modularisation principles across plant design and delivery activities

  • Leading and integrating cross‑functional studies and improvement initiatives focused on reducing schedule and delivery risk

  • Identifying and resolving misalignment between design intent, construction sequence and logistical flow

  • Supporting formal design reviews and governance to strengthen confidence in delivery models

Why This Role Is Different

This is a pivotal, high‑profile role where you’ll bring systems thinking, curiosity and first‑class influencing capability, operating credibly across ambiguity, complexity and competing priorities to solve problems before they reach site.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in working in ambiguity and problem solving.

  • A recognised qualification in an engineering or construction discipline, or equivalent demonstrable industry experience

  • Experience contributing to or delivering elements of complex products or programmes to defined schedules

  • Working knowledge of systems thinking, continuous improvement or robust design approaches

  • We’ll ask about your experience influencing multiple stakeholders to deliver integrated, cross‑functional outcomes

Location

This role can be based at any Rolls‑Royce SMR location. We support hybrid and flexible working, with regular on‑site attendance expected to enable effective collaboration with delivery teams.

What’s In It for You

  • We anticipate paying a salary of between £53,800-£63,300 DOE plus:-

  • Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%

  • Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package

  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.

  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.

  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care

  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay

  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
