Human Resources Business Partner (Virginia)
Job Description
**This role can be located in Charlottesville, VA or Richmond, VA.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This isn't a support role, it's a seat at the table. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, our HR Business Partner will partner directly with VP-level and Director-level leaders, make independent decisions that move the needle, and serve as the HR presence across our Virginia operations. You'll be out in the field, in the boardroom, and everywhere in between.
We move fast, we build things, and we need an HR partner who can keep up. If you thrive with autonomy, enjoy getting to know the people and operations you support firsthand, and know how to hold your own with senior leaders, you'll feel right at home here.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Serve as the go-to HR partner for regional and VP-level leaders across Virginia — coaching, advising, and driving results
- Lead employee relations, performance management, and FMLA/ADA processes independently across your territory
- Conduct regular site visits to build trust with frontline employees and managers — boots on the ground, not just video calls
- Identify workforce trends and proactively bring data-driven solutions to leadership before issues escalate
- Advise and coach managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure fair and consistent treatment of all employees
- Develop and audit region-specific compensation structures to keep the organization competitive in the market
- Represent the company in unemployment hearings and ensure full employment law compliance
- Collaborate with EHS on workers' compensation alignment and safety-conscious HR practices
- Maintain accurate HRIS data and contribute to written communications on benefits, policy updates, and more
- Assist in planning company events and maintaining a regular, visible presence at sites in your assigned territory
WHO YOU ARE
You read a room whether it's a one-on-one with a frontline crew member or a strategy session with a VP. You're organized enough to track a full territory of HR activity, and personable enough that people genuinely want to come to you.
The idea of spending 25–50% of your time out in the field doesn't give you pause , it excites you. You're someone who learns by doing, adapts quickly, and brings energy to every interaction. Above all, you care about people and take pride in doing the work with integrity.

- 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience across multiple HR functions
