Job Description

Position Summary / Primary Responsibility:

Provides integrated academic advising and admissions counseling services to prospective and enrolled students. The position supports student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and progression to graduation by advising students on admissions requirements, academic programs, degree planning, transfer credit, financial aid options, and academic success strategies. Serves as a key liaison between prospective students, enrolled students, faculty, and campus partners to advance institutional enrollment and student success goals.

Enrollment & Academic Success Functions:

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for prospective, admitted, and enrolled students, providing seamless guidance from recruitment through degree completion.

  • Recruits’ prospective students by representing the university at high schools, community colleges, healthcare and workforce sites, community-based organizations, education fairs, information sessions, and outreach events, both on- and off-campus.

  • Counsels’ prospective students and families on admissions requirements, application procedures, academic programs, enrollment timelines, and institutional policies, supporting informed enrollment decisions.

  • Reviews and evaluates admissions applications; assists with admissions decisions, appeals, transfer credit reviews, compliance issues, and resolution of extenuating circumstances, in accordance with university policy.

  • Maintains and expands recruitment and enrollment pipelines through lead generation, follow-up, territory management, prospect advising, and matriculation support.

  • Establishes and sustains partnerships with school counselors, community college personnel, faculty, alumni, employers, and community organizations to strengthen recruitment, transfer pathways, and student success initiatives.

  • Develops and implements individual enrollment and retention plans each term; contributes to university-wide strategies using defined enrollment, persistence, and completion metrics.

  • Advises prospective and enrolled students on academic programs, curriculum requirements, transfer pathways, dual credit, and financial assistance options, including scholarships, grants, loans, and consortium agreements.

  • Provides academic advising and degree planning support, including course selection, major exploration, degree audits, graduation applications, petitions, and academic policy interpretation.

  • Monitors student academic progress, engagement, and retention through proactive outreach, scheduled advising interactions, and data-informed interventions.

  • Identifies and supports at-risk students by collaborating with faculty, supervisors, and campus partners to promote persistence, academic recovery, and timely degree completion.

  • Guides students in academic success strategies, career exploration, and goal setting, making referrals to appropriate campus resources such as tutoring, student success centers, counseling, and career services.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of enrollment, advising, and student success policies, including proactive advising models, transfer articulation processes, and degree audit systems.

  • Maintains accurate and confidential student records; contributes to data analysis and reporting related to recruitment, enrollment, retention, progression, and academic outcomes.

Institutional Collaboration & Service

  • Collaborates with Recruitment, Admissions, Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Career Services, and other departments to support institutional enrollment and student success goals.

  • Assists with training new staff and student workers, and participates in college meetings, case conferences, and comprehensive exams as assigned.

  • Stays current on advising and admissions best practices, transfer agreements, curriculum changes, and institutional policies.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in student counseling, education, business administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of combined experience in academic advising, admissions counseling, recruitment, enrollment management, or student services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education advising and student recruitment.

  • Knowledge of degree planning, transfer credit evaluation, graduation requirements, financial aid processes, and student information systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations and external community partners.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong advising, counseling, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to interpret and apply academic and admissions policies and procedures.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and data-tracking skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively.

  • Proficiency with student information systems, CRM platforms, and standard office software.

Work Environment & Additional Requirements:

  • This position is grant-funded and subject to continuation of funding.

  • This position primarily performs duties throughout the service region, requiring extensive travel, with periodic reporting to campus as needed.

  • A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are required.

Salary for this position starts at $3,042.67 monthly, and is negotiable dependent upon education and experience.
