Provides clerical support for the area office staff through the performance of care coordination, clerical, reception and chart maintenance functions. Works in cooperation with other health team members.

Patient Accounts Representative - Horizons Harper Co. - FT

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs admission responsibilities and assists clients complete admission packets, including appropriate releases of information.
  • Completes registration and financial enrollment of new clients
  • Collects and verifies current insurance information for each client
  • Assesses client needs by determining acuity, identifying presenting problem, gathering necessary historical information
  • Schedules subsequent appointments based on level of care assignment
  • Performs clerical duties and business record keeping
  • Completes collection responsibilities, including payment of outstanding balance and copays
  • Administer receptionist duties, including receiving and directing clients to waiting areas, appointment scheduling, answering phone, maintaining office appearance, etc.
  • Other job duties as assigned    

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Good computer literacy, familiar with basic Microsoft tools
  • Basic experience in alpha-numeric filing

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One to three years’ experience in medical records, filing and secretarial duties.
  • Knowledge in processing referrals, helping coordinate access to the appropriate treatment

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Three to five years’ experience in answering phones, medical records and filing Personal Health Information (PHI)
  • Training in HIPPA
  • Some college experience with an emphasis in Microsoft and health or behavioral sciences.
