Job Description

Position Summary

The Furnishings Manager will oversee purchases, receipts, issues, installations, warranty tracking, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of furnishings. Provides full lifecycle of government-owned furnishings with Air Force housing operations or military base furnishings management. This position is considered contingent upon award.

Individuals must be able to attain and maintain a valid US Government security clearance to be retained in the position

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and conduct physical inventories and distribute furnishings located in warehouses and 12 dormitories.
  • Request, receive, issue, store, and coordinate delivery and pickup of all Government-owned furnishings used in authorized facilities within established timelines.
  • Identify and report suspected abuse or loss of property for items damaged, destroyed, or lost.
  • Purchase, receipt, issue, installation, warranty tracking, maintenance, repair, and replacement.
  • Prepare and update annually one- and five-year long-range furnishings plans.
  • Submit furnishings budgets to the Housing Chief as required.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle, navigating on both paved and gravel roads and adhering to all base driving policies.
  • Must be detailed and safety oriented.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management, facilities support, or logistics.
  • Air Force housing operations or military base furnishings management preferred (AFI 32-6000 experience a plus)
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance.


Skill & Certification Requirements

  • Familiarity with Air Force housing operations or military base furnishings management preferred (AFI 32-6000 experience a plus).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to track and report on government property accurately.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to operate a vehicle on Dyess AFB paved and gravel roads and adhere to all base driving policies.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes, and regulations.
  • The ability to diagram designs both manually and with computer-aided drafting.
  • Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Cost Estimating Software. 
  • Good team working and communication skills.
  • An excellent working knowledge of science, mathematics, and engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical, critical, and problem-solving skills.
  • SharePoint Documentation 
  • Proficient in troubleshooting techniques
  • Presentation and briefing capabilities 
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Possess administrative and project management skills
  • May be required to lift more than 50lbs
  • Position requires sitting, standing, keeling for long periods of time
