What does the job involve?

Equinor’s Legal and Compliance organization is responsible for legal, compliance and ethics advice and assistance to the Equinor Group. Through this responsibility, Legal and Compliance contributes to safeguarding the Equinor Group and enabling business activities. We are now looking for a new Senior Counsel to our Singapore office to provide legal and regulatory support to Equinor’s marketing and trading activities in the Asia Pacific region.

What will my tasks be?

Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

  • Structure, negotiate and draft documentation related to mid- and downstream business, including NDAs, term-sheets, contracts and documentation related to commodities trading, LNG and financing.

  • Provide legal and regulatory support to Equinor Asia Pacific’s (“EQAP”) MMP business and other business units carrying out business activities in Asia, including:

    • General corporate and regulatory advisory.
    • CoSec and compliance support.
    • Business services.
    • Regulatory.
    • Employment.
  • Support local management on all business integrity and compliance risks, including anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, market conduct compliance, and human rights. 

  • Assess claims and disputes.

  • Manage external legal and CoSec resources.

  • Provide support to the business in assessing legal, regulatory, and compliance risks prior to entering new markets.

Here's what we expect from you:

  • Experienced lawyer with around 10-15 years PQE in private practice and/or in-house.

  • Licensed to practice in Singapore or other common law jurisdiction.

  • Core competencies (one or more of the following):

    • Commodities trading.
    • LNG.
    • Shipping.
    • Project development/financing.
  • The following experience would be a bonus:

    • Compliance.
    • Corporate Law.
    • Business level Mandarin skills.
  • Good command of English is essential.
