The Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) Simulator Technician is responsible for working as member of a team of technicians under the direction of a HATS Senior Simulator Technician to operate and maintain the Synthetic Training Environment (STE) devices (consisting of flight simulators, virtual reality trainers, marshalling virtual reality trainer, desktop trainers, tactical part task trainers), supporting the Constructive Training Environment (CTE), support and maintaining the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Network, and supporting the Avionics equipment fitted to the helicopter platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Simulation Technician, you are accountable for:
- Operate and maintain the HATS STE, CTE, ICT and Avionics elements as directed by the HATS Senior Simulator Technicians or HATS Lead Maintenance Technician.
- Ensure that the HATS STE, CTE, ICT and Avionics elements are maintained in accordance with the manufacturers’ guidelines.
- Carry out corrective maintenance and actions as required.
- Maintain tools and test equipment, and ensure equipment is in calibration.
- Maintain records and documentation.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant standards and processes.
- Act and undertake duties as a Self Certifying Maintainer (SCM) when authorised.
- Utilise spares and carry out repairs to ensure that the STE devices meet contracted availability requirements.
- Maintain a sound working relationship with the customer and other relevant stakeholders.
- Proactively identify issues and solutions, keeping the HATS Lead Maintenance Technician informed of progress.
- Effectively communicate with all levels of staff via staff meetings, written communications and one-on-one communication.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
- Qualifications in Avionics, Electronics, Computer IT or similar fields.
- Experience in a technical workshop or maintenance environment.
- Customer interface.
- Sound interpersonal skills – good team player.
- Demonstrated self starter.
- Experience with simulation projects preferably in a Defence context is desirable
