Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Frisco is preparing to open its doors in Spring 2027, and we are assembling an elite team of cardiovascular professionals who want more than a job—they want to help define the future of heart care in one of the nation’s fastest‑growing regions.
As a new team member, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping a new, state‑of‑the‑art heart hospital designed with one purpose in mind: delivering world‑class, patient‑centered cardiovascular care. In anticipation of our opening, select roles will begin as early as Summer 2026, allowing you to complete comprehensive orientation and training at our nationally recognized Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospitals. This immersive experience ensures you are fully prepared, aligned with our culture, and equipped with the highest standards of clinical excellence well before the Frisco campus opens.
Job Summary
The Chaplain 2 offers advanced spiritual care as part of a holistic, multidisciplinary team. Provides compassionate spiritual and emotional support for all Baylor Scott & White Health patients, family members, and staff, regardless of faith background or religious affiliation. Participates in staff training and professional development. Oversees volunteers and residents.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Plans, coordinates, organizes, and conducts religious services for patients, families, and staff. This includes weekly worship, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing, and coordinating bereavement needs.
- Provides counseling and other spiritual education activities for employees, students, and patients.
- Supports the end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families.
- Partners with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and staff. They form an interdisciplinary team to assess patient needs and improve care.
- Conducts a pastoral assessment of a patient's spiritual and emotional status and the need for spiritual care.
- Develops relationships with local churches, community agencies, and service organizations. Supports the Baylor Scott & White Health community. Recruits, trains, and coordinates pastoral care volunteers.
- Documents and maintains records of spiritual counseling for patients.
Key Success Factors
- Knowledge of philosophical systems and religions.
- Knowledge of the methods and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional setting.
- Knowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations.
- Able to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.
- Listening skills
- Skill in counseling patients, family members and staff.
- Ability to counsel people during periods of stress.
- Ability to passionately participate as a member of a professional therapeutic team.
- Denominational endorsement for chaplaincy, ordination or commissioning to ministry preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION - Masters'
- Preferrably Master's of Theology or Master's of Divinity
- EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience
- Preferrably in a healthcare/hospital setting
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
- Board Cert Chaplain (BCC)
- Four or more units of ACPE-CPE
