Overview
The Drug Information Specialist is able to perform the duties of a clinical pharmacy specialist (see Job Code 5918). The main responsibilities of this position include the day-to-day management of the Drug Information Service and to support the functioning of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, including editing the department’s newsletter. Other responsibilities include precepting residents and students and otherwise furthering the hospital’s mission of serving its patients and becoming nationally recognized for clinical and service excellence. Requirements include a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and residency training (or equivalent clinical experience). Excellent communication, organization, self-direction, and prioritization skills are required.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university with license to practice pharmacy in Alabama required.
Experience
Prior experience preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities
Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be proficient in mathematics, English language/grammar. BCLS is required prior to the end or the orientation period.
