The Foundations Technical Trainer is responsible for the safe, efficient and productive operation of the Nextpower Truss Driver fleet across solar installation, testing, demonstration and training projects.
This role combines expert machine operation with formal and on-site training delivery to internal staff, contractors and customer personnel. The position plays a critical role in ensuring safe operation, achievement of production targets, development of operator competency, and consistent application of Nextpower operating standards across all projects.
The successful candidate will develop extensive experience operating Nextpower Truss Drivers in renewable construction environments, strong communication and leadership capability, and the ability to coach, mentor and assess operators in field-based environments.
The role requires significant travel (up to 80–90% during peak periods) and the ability to work in fast-paced and remote project environments.

Environment, Health and Safety
- Operate all equipment in strict compliance with Nextpower safety standards and Australian WHS legislation.
- Act as a visible safety leader on project sites.
- Conduct pre-start inspections and ensure daily machine safety checks are completed and recorded.
- Identify and report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly.
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure safe work practices are maintained in remote and high-risk environments.
- Comply with all site-specific safety management plans and client requirements.
Truss Driver Operation
- Safely operate the Nextpower Truss Driver to achieve production and quality targets.
- Lead and execute in situ testing programs
- Execute earth truss installations in accordance with engineering specifications and project requirements.
- Monitor installation tolerances including alignment, depth and torque parameters.
- Maintain accurate production reporting and daily installation logs.
- Coordinate with site supervisors and installation crews to optimize workflow and minimize downtime.
- Assist with machine mobilization and demobilization activities.
Training and Competency Development
- Deliver structured operator training programs (classroom and field-based).
- Develop and maintain training materials, operating procedures and competency assessments.
- Conduct operator evaluations and certify competency in accordance with company standards.
- Provide hands-on coaching and mentoring to new and developing operators.
- Support customer training during project kick-off and commissioning phases.
- Identify operator skill gaps and implement corrective training plans.
- Promote standardization of operational best practices across all sites.
Operational Excellence and continuous Improvement
- Provide feedback to engineering and operations teams on machine performance and field learnings.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, safety and reliability.
- Assist in testing and commissioning of new equipment or procedural updates.
- Support implementation of operational best practices aligned with global fleet standards.

Customer & Site Interface
- Represent Nextpower professionally on client sites.
- Work collaboratively with EPCs, contractors and installation crews.
- Provide operational guidance to customer personnel when required.
- Escalate project risks or performance concerns to Operations Management.
- Support field demonstrations and project kick-start activities as required.
Care of Nextpower property
- Ensure all machines, tools and company assets are maintained in good working order.
- Minimize risk of property damage, loss or misuse of assets under your care.
- Maintain clean and organized equipment and work areas.
- Ensure correct storage and handling of parts and consumables.
Other duties
- Positively contribute to Nextpower through participation, sharing ideas and previous experience.
- Support team members across projects as required.
- Perform any other duties as directed by Operations Management.
Experience, Qualities and Qualifications - Essential
Essential
- Demonstrated experience operating construction equipment.
- Demonstrated experience training, mentoring or supervising equipment operators.
- Strong understanding of site safety requirements and WHS compliance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in remote field environments.
- High level of professionalism and customer-facing capability.
- Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours.

· Experience in solar construction or renewable energy projects.
· Experience with micro-piling drill rigs or foundation installation equipment.
· Basic electrical diagnostic capability (12/24V systems).
· First Aid certification.
