Responsibilities:
Job SummaryPerforms as a working lead and support for the network wound care and hyperbaric front office staff. Assists staff in obtaining insurance authorizations, completing insurance verifications, scheduling patients, and counseling patients on financial benefits, estimates and arrangements. Serves as subject matter expert with wound care and hyperbaric front office systems. Serves as a liaison between the front office staff and the clinical staff, hyperbaric technicians, providers, and leadership team. Participates in identifying needs for process improvements and creating/enhancing processes beneficial to all wound care and hyperbaric departments in the network. Maintains ongoing department training programs in conjunction with leadership. Promotes positive teamwork within each wound care and hyperbaric department.
Essential Functions
- Serves as an expert resource for network department employees, as well as those outside the department, in regards to front office responsibilities including but not limited to verification of benefits, patient financial counseling, authorizations, registration and scheduling.
- Maintains all departmental network policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure optimal execution of departmental tasks and achievement of goals. Assists in the development of new procedures and processes across the network. Participates in process improvement activities and implements process changes as directed by Supervisors/Director. Supports Supervisors/Director in other activities, as needed.
- Serves as a teacher, trainer, and mentor for new staff. Assists in the orientation on front office processes including Epic utilization and other related software/information systems.
- Serves as subject matter expert for HIPAA, Federal regulations, state regulations, health system policies, departmental policies and reimbursement criteria. Assists in leading network wound and hyperbaric front office meetings and huddles in order to enhance communications within and between departments.
- Provides feedback to Supervisor/Director on staff performance for evaluation purposes. Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with staff to provide productivity measurements and feedback.
- Associate's Degree in related healthcare field - Preferred
- High School Diploma or GED - Required
- 1 year Experience planning and directing other’s daily work - Required
- 2 years Experience front office in an ambulatory discipline (i.e. wound care, radiology, etc.) - Required
- 3 years Experience front office in an ambulatory discipline (i.e. wound care, radiology, etc.) - Preferred
