Programmer Analyst IV:

Bowhead is seeking a highly experienced Programmer Analyst IV for an upcoming opportunity in Juneau, AK supporting the development and maintenance of enterprise applications within the Alaska Fisheries domain. This senior-level position requires a blend of deep technical expertise, systems knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with both end users and technical staff to deliver high-quality software solutions.

• Collaborate with users to identify current operating procedures, clarify program objectives, and define functional requirements.
• Outline and document all steps required for program development, including process diagrams, flowcharts, and system design charts.
• Write comprehensive program documentation and operations guidelines to support system maintenance, onboarding, and continuity.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to lower-level analyst/programmers.
• Partner with external consultants as needed to design and develop unique applications that meet organizational requirements.
• Exercise a high degree of creativity and independent judgment in architecting solutions across complex, evolving environments.
• Maintain detailed and comprehensive knowledge of the employer’s existing applications and systems.
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 5-8 years of experience of related exerience
• Comprehensive knowledge of programming techniques, networked and centralized operating systems, and the capabilities of enterprise database products and development suites.
• Detailed and comprehensive knowledge of the employer’s applications and systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Alaska Fisheries systems, data, and operations.
• Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external consultants.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for security clearance at this location.
