What you will be doing
The Shipping Assistant is responsible for Loading, Unloading, receiving, and
documenting material that may be removed and loaded from trucks. Process of reviewing
documents related to or creating, updating and/or maintaining all records and documentation
associated with daily Shipping, Trucking and Import/Export activities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Load and unload inbound and outbound freight using forklift or Combi (must be
certified or able to obtain certification within 90 days; training provided).
• Receive and verify all incoming shipments; complete and sign receiving logs.
• Maintain shipping and receiving files, including scrap logs and other required
documentation.
• Create delivery documents and post load plans (training provided as needed)
What will make you successful?
Job Requirements:
• Forklift/Combi certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Basic math and counting skills with frequent interruptions.
• English communication skills (including telephone use).
• Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) U.S. Department of Transportation and Motor
Carrier rules and regulations.
• Ability to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Oracle; can learn on the job).
• Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to take on new tasks.
• Knowledge of Shipping/Receiving practices.
• Proven ability to maintain confidential information
