Job Summary:
Inspects production parts to ensure that they meet quality specifications and standards.
Starting Rate of pay:
$23.03/hr plus $1.00 Shift diff on 3rd shift.
Shifts Available and Hours:
3rd shift M - F (10.00PM - 6.30AM).
What you will be doing
- Read and accurately interpret Hydro Extrusion engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Accurately use and read inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, height gauges, dial indicators, check fixtures, other measuring instruments, and other available information to check dimensions of parts to blueprint specifications to assure that parts conform to Hydro Extrusion engineering standards and customer requirements.
- Accurately complete various forms. Ensure all applicable documents pertaining to the inspection process (i.e. data sheets, SPC charts, first piece sample, etc.) are completed and filed in accordance with the Hydro Extrusion Quality Manual.
- Perform receiving inspection, gauge calibration, first piece layouts, floor inspection, and extrusion inspection, to assure the quality of product manufactured by Hydro Extrusion
- Randomly check parts at all machines and assembly areas as required. Halt production after consulting with the appropriate Supervisor if quality does not meet Hydro Extrusion customer standards.
- Inspect incoming Extrusion for correct part number, hardness, dimensions, etc.
- Inspect purchased parts used in manufacturing.
- Inspect material returned from customers.
- Inspect first piece setups to assure compliance to blueprints.
- Use the portable fixed table CMM and/or Vision system to measure dimensions of prototype parts, purchased parts, and parts currently in production according to engineering department and customer blueprints.
- Check the accuracy of welds and check fixtures.
- Check for broken, worn, and out of tolerance parts.
- Compose a complete and detailed report of items being checked.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area for all. Good housekeeping is a requirement.
- Exhibit a professional and positive approach at all times.
- Must be willing to cross-train on other jobs throughout the plant, as needed.
- When conditions dictate, overtime may be required (with little or no prior notification).
What will make you successful?
- 2 year technical degree or equivalent, or minimum 2-5years experience in Quality Assurance preferred.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment is desired. A high school diploma is required.
- Must be able to interpret Hydro Extrusion engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards. Therefore, successful completion of a blueprint-reading course is required.
- Must be able to evaluate various manufacturing processes using a surface plate, hand layout tools, and other measurement devices.
- Must be able to carefully handle all CMM components so as to assure the device’s accuracy and good condition.
- Must demonstrate – by means of a functional test - the ability to setup the CMM (portable or fixed table and/or Vision system) and the sample piece to be measured so as to assure correct measurements.
- Must be able to detect visual and measurable material defects.
- Must be able to accurately complete forms and documents pertaining to the quality department. Must maintain accessible records of these forms and documents.
- Must be able to read and write small numbers and letters; have ability to make arithmetic calculations.
- Must be able to perform several tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to respond quickly to problems; have ability to work in a stressful environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and managers in both written and verbal form.
- Must be able to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Must follow plant-wide safety procedures at all times.
- Must pass a drug/alcohol screen and physical exam. (Note: Accommodations will be made in accordance with The Americans with Disabilities Act).
- Must be able to lift approximately twenty to fifty (20-50) pounds frequently during a scheduled shift.
- Must successfully complete a ninety (90) day orientation period.
