Job Description

The Senior Director of Student Recruitment provides strategic vision and operational oversight for all systems and initiatives for student recruitment and enrollment across the South Florida region, specifically covering Broward and Miami-Dade counties. This leadership role is responsible for driving grassroots community engagement and building high-impact local partnerships while directly managing, coaching, and developing the regional recruitment team.

Regional Leadership & Strategy

  • Set the vision and strategic direction for student recruitment and enrollment across the entire South Florida region.
  • Develop, implement, continuously refine, and hold teammates accountable to a comprehensive regional recruitment plan with clear enrollment targets, timelines, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee and align recruitment operations across two sub-markets: Broward County and Miami-Dade County.
  • Partner closely with the marketing team to align regional strategy with organizational priorities.
  • Lead regional enrollment planning and forecasting, presenting data-driven updates and recommendations to senior leadership.

Miami Recruitment & Community Engagement

  • Own direct recruitment activities alongside and in support of the Recruitment Manager.
  • Conduct grassroots outreach including canvassing neighborhoods, making lead nurturing calls, visiting community hubs, and attending local events.
  • Build and sustain authentic relationships with parents, community leaders, faith-based organizations, and local businesses in Miami-Dade to drive enrollment.
  • Represent KIPP Miami at community events, school fairs, open houses, and information sessions.
  • Model best-in-class recruitment practices and serve as a resource and mentor for the Miami SRE team

Team Management & Development

  • Directly supervise the Director of Recruitment (Broward) and the Recruitment Manager (Miami), providing structured 1:1s, performance feedback, and growth planning.
  • Build team capacity by establishing consistent recruitment SOPs, playbooks, and training protocols.
  • Develop and monitor individual and team recruitment targets, ensuring accountability and support.
  • Foster a high-performing, mission-driven team culture grounded in urgency, equity, and excellence.
  • Identify and support part-time or seasonal recruitment staff as needed.

Enrollment Systems, Data & Compliance

  • Oversee collection, management, and integrity of student applications and enrollment data across both markets.
  • Monitor real-time enrollment dashboards and lead weekly data review and strategy sessions with direct reports.
  • Use data analytics to adjust recruitment tactics, reallocate resources, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure full compliance with charter enrollment laws, state policies, and organizational procedures across both counties.
  • Present to local boards as necessary on targets and progress to goals
  • Develop and optimize systems for student transitions across grade levels, targeting 85%+ matriculation rates.

Regional Expansion & Stakeholder Engagement

 

  • Develop strategy for recruitment planning and community groundwork in support of potential school expansions or new site launches in South Florida.
  • Identify and develop new community partnership pipelines to support enrollment growth in emerging neighborhoods.
  • Engage with school leaders and operations teams to ensure seamless, family-friendly enrollment experiences.
  • Lead regional stakeholder engagement efforts, including canvassing and community events, while driving team accountability across stakeholder groups in partnership with the ops team. 
  • Represent KIPP in external stakeholder meetings, civic forums, and strategic community tables.
  • Report regularly to senior leadership on enrollment progress, market dynamics, and expansion readiness.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • 7+ years of experience in student recruitment, enrollment management, or community outreach, preferably in the K–12 education sector.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, with demonstrated success leading and developing recruitment or enrollment teams.
  • Proven track record of achieving ambitious enrollment or sales targets through both direct execution and team leadership.
  • Experience working in or strong familiarity with South Florida communities strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple markets and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in data analysis to monitor enrollment metrics and drive strategic decisions.
  • Effective collaboration with Marketing and Communications teams to develop campaigns and materials.
  • Ability to operate as both a strategic leader and a hands-on executor – comfortable at all levels of the work.
  • Ability to build authentic relationships and trust within historically underserved communities.
  • Ability to travel regularly across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to work across cultures and with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:

  • Significant field-based work including travel throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
  • Prolonged periods of working at a computer and sitting at a desk during administrative work.
  • Evening and weekend availability required for recruitment events, community engagement, and open houses.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
