Position Summary
The Day Room Coordinator is responsible for managing and monitoring the operations and activities of the Michael Hinson Resource Center to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations. The Day Room Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safety of participants as well as the security and sanitation of the program. In addition, provide direct program support for the participants by assisting with information/resource sharing and supporting the work of internal and external program partners.
SHIFT: 7 am – 3 pm, Monday through Friday
STATUS: Full-Time (Non-Exempt)
REPORTS TO: Program Director
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure a safe, secure, and efficient facility.
Ensure participants comply with agency policy and rules.
Monitor participant areas, and ensure you are visible and continuously interacting with program participants.
Check for contraband, i.e., illicit drugs, alcohol, weapons, etc., in the facility through general observation, searches per the search, contraband, and weapons protocols.
Supervise program activities, including internal and external partner programming for participants.
Maintain visitor protocol and follow daily log procedures.
Follow appropriate critical incident protocol, including providing adequate accompanying documentation.
Maintain a comprehensive and accurate written record of events that occur during shifts, as well as thorough incident reports if needed.
Maintain participant meal sheets, sign-in/out log, and all other logbooks and records.
Conduct periodic inspections of the facility and grounds through periodic rounds to ensure the facility's security.
Conduct periodic fire drills and perform other safety duties as directed/required to ensure the safety of participants, including implementing emergency evacuation protocol.
Answer telephone and route calls or messages to appropriate team members.
Receive, account for, and secure all donations received during the shift and provide donation receipts to donors upon request.
Education and Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
At least one (1) year of acceptable training and experience in human services, including but not limited to homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health.
Must have valid driver’s licensing and a clean motor vehicle record.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend and lift supplies.
Ability to visually observe, hear, understand, and interpret participant behavior.
Must be able to provide constructive feedback to shift leader or designee to improve services.
Must be well organized, detail-oriented, task-driven, and able to work independently and set daily priorities.
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be flexible and willing to assist in cases of urgency and/or emergencies.
