Job Overview

The Maintenance Operative is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 

  • Providing scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service, and emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
  • Performing routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Repairing machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments, electrical or electronic testing devices.
  • Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment.
  • Performing fabrication to include machining and general design and fit.
  • Diagnosing problems, replacing or repairing parts, and testing and adjusting.
  • Dismantling devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders to perform the required maintenance service.
  • Working with the engineering department on special projects as needed.
  • Assisting in design of tooling and equipment for molds as well as welds steel and cuts steel when needed. 
  • Assist with mold set-up when required. 
  • Practicing and promoting safety at all times.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Trade School (required)
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in electromechanical or hydraulic systems (required)
  • 1+ years of maintenance experience in a continuous operating manufacturing environment (required)
  • Experience in PLCs preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints; ability to use all hand and power tools used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to diagnose problems and determine replacement or repair of parts; make material, labor, and equipment estimates based on blueprint study; follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and minimal technical guidance
  • Licensed forklift operator
  • Compliance with OSHA Health and Safety guidelines
  • Ability to work at heights up to approximately 50 feet.
