Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Veterinary Laboratory Technician to join the in-house laboratory team at our large, multi-specialty, 50+ doctor mixed animal hospital and emergency center and new state of the art Laboratory. The technician will play a vital role in supporting patient care by performing a wide range of diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures for both companion and large animals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy
- Provide compassionate care to patients and clients: able to conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks
- Blood work including CBCs with differentials, chemistry testing, endocrinology, and serology
- Urinalysis including reading sediment
- Various forms of fecal testing
- Limited microbiology
- Processing lab paperwork
- Preparing shipments to outside laboratories
- Making reagents
- Analyzing tests for the DEP water lab
- Quality control and Quality assurance work
- Regular (weekly and monthly maintenance) on instruments
- Stocking lab supplies
- Maintain positive, cooperative relationships with other employees
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary
Preferred Education & Experience
The ideal candidate will have
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CVT or student in an accredited Veterinary Technician program. (Required)
- Previous Lab experience (preferred)
