Ground Support Systems (GSS) Lead

JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Ground Support Systems (GSS) Lead will provide supervision and the delivery of the GSS administration and the technical aspects encompassed in GSS, to ensure the continuous availability of the mission critical GSS required to ensure continuous serviceability and availability of the solutions supporting the RSAF Typhoon Fleet.
Outline responsibilities include:
Understand all aspects of GSS and its associated systems and how their availability impacts on the Business objectives, understand how their respective roles align with the overall Business plan
Supervise and undertake activities in support of the GSS administration service
Ensure adherence of all SHE and Quality Assurance standards across all GSS related activities, including compliance with all related regulations, policies and procedures
Ensure that all Continuing Airworthiness and maintenance activities conducted within GSS are carried out in accordance with current processes and procedures
Ensure the continued availability of all GSS mission critical systems in support of Typhoon operations
Deputise for the GSS Team Leader when required
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure all work tasked by the GSS Team Leader is carried out and any issues that are likely to impact GSS availability are highlighted
Delivery of all Typhoon GSS Administration activities associated with the availability, mobilisation and maintenance of all GSS installations in support of RSAF Typhoon operations at main operating bases and KSA based deployed operations
Installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of system hardware and software related to the GSS Operational infrastructure to be utilised in support of GSS activities
Supervise ESS and MSS hardware and software build activities
Provide a direct level of supervision to GSS personnel appropriate to their skills and competency
Ensure that system builds and maintenance is carried out in accordance with the Approved Data and qualified processes
Plan and implement any system upgrades
Assist with the transfer of knowledge, coaching, counterpart development and consolidation activities with the RSAF GSS System Administrators and PC SNs
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical or IT or computer science discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or suitable equivalent technical qualification approved by M&CA.
Extensive proven relevant work experience in operational Information Technology.
Substantial proven experience in a relevant management role
A Practitioner level of skills in support aircraft ground capability, such as mission planning or maintenance management systems.
At least a Familiar level of knowledge of aircraft operation environments and of the aircraft weapon system.
At least a Practitioner level of skills for managing maintenance in workshops.
A Practitioner level of Management and Leadership experience, ideally gained in the defence aviation domain.
A Practitioner level of communication skills.
High level of interpersonal skills, able to co-ordinate a number of activities and the ability to communicate, influence and direct decision making.
Relevant GSS hardware qualifications (Fujitsu, NetApp, Cisco).
Relevant GSS software qualifications (MS Windows, Oracle, AIX).
Aircraft data management experience.
TeamCenter experience.
IMS experience.
trilogiView experience.
WDMS experience.
The successful candidate, Saudi or Expatriate must obtain Saudi Council of *Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level, prior to starting the new role or commencing employment in KSA, SCE membership must be maintained throughout their employment in this role
Desirable
Aircraft operational &/or maintenance data management experience
Knowledge of BAES Saudi Arabia and the Royal Saudi Air Force.
Broad aerospace and defence company / industry knowledge.
