
Instructor, Undergraduate Studies - Cizik School of Nursing
Job Description
Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston invites applicants for full-time or part-time, tenure-track, or non-tenure clinical track positions at the Instructor level in the department of Undergraduate Studies.
The faculty member will train and supervise nursing students. The candidate may conduct research for a scholarship, participate in clinical practice, and provide service to the school and the university.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Instructional responsibilities: Clinical supervision, clinical simulation, and/or didactic teaching, and may include other administrative activities as well.
- Participates in the development of curriculum.
- Attends course planning meetings.
- Communicates with course faculty about student assignments, requirements, and progress.
- Evaluates students' progress, performance, and work and provides timely feedback in compliance with established course protocols.
- Identifies problems and consults with course faculty to develop strategies to resolve them.
- Serves as a professional role model and resource for students.
- Promotes compliance with student/university policies.
- Other scholarly/institutional service responsibilities will be determined in coordination with the Department Chair.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A baccalaureate degree and a Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or related discipline, and eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Texas.
EXPERIENCE:
- One year of full-time nurse practice experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Leadership/management, education (clinical or didactic teaching).
- Higher education in School of Nursing.
- Course management system.
CERTIFICATION/SKILLS:
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students and faculty.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
- Additional certifications may be required or desired depending upon the specialty area (e.g., CRNA, NP-BC).
