Summary
The Business Support Specialist performs advanced high volume level administrative work. This position supports JHS mission of creating a rewarding client and patient experience by ensuring and facilitating administrative level expertise with diverse projects in a timely manner consistent with the goals of the respective department and budget. This position will have a significant role in the preparation of the departments or the organization's budget and may act in a confidential capacity. Position requires exercise of independent judgment.

Responsibilities
- Provides daily high level advanced departmental administrative assistance.
- Provides assistance by developing, communicating, implementing and evaluating the mission, goals and objectives of the respective department.
- Ensures that department specific goals and objectives are carried out and supportive of financial sustainability goals of Jackson Health System.
- Assists in maintaining regulatory compliance through implementation of programmatic changes.
- Assists with coordinating personnel functions for department.
- Provides administrative oversight for Trust and Grant funds ensuring compliance to criteria designating allocation of monies, maintaining disbursement ledgers describing expense type and provides monthly report to Administration.
- Promotes excellent customer service orientation within the department including development and implementation of customer-focused systems, processes and behaviors.
- Assists in coordinating personnel functions for each department within Division as requested.
- Ensures that department specific goals and objectives are aligned with Division and support financial sustainability goals of Jackson Health System.
- Assists with annual budget preparation.
- Assists with procurement and contract analysis.
- Maintains a working knowledge and understanding of managed care, health care delivery trends, payment/reimbursement structure, accreditation regulations and regulatory criteria.
- Ensures department operates within applicable guidelines.
- Reviews vendors and contractual associates' compliance with outcome metrics as specified in contract or service agreement.
- Initiates corrective action as appropriate and informs Administration.
- Ensures that report deadlines are met and that all information distributed is complete.
- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
- Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
- Experience in OR business operations including inventory tracking and vendor management
- Experience working with sterile processing/instruments team
- Experience with TrackCore required
Education
- High school diploma is required. Bachelor's degree in related field is strongly preferred.
Skill
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
Credentials
- Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
