The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), within the Franciscan Health community, assists in valuable workflow operations. This position provides professional care for patients under the supervision of the provider, and educates patients on procedures and follow up care. The CST functions as a liaison between patients, staff, and providers.

Provide a more personal approach to direct patient care in a variety of outpatient settings, which may include:

  • Arrange instrument trays, prepare sterile drapes and solutions, and help the surgical team put on caps, gowns, and gloves.
  • Assist with prep of patients, as needed.
  • Pass instruments to surgeons and surgical assistants.
  • May assist with sponge, needle, and other supply counts to track materials used in surgery.
  • May operate suction, diagnostic, and sterilizing equipment, and package specimens to take for laboratory analysis.
  • Clinic responsibilities to include scheduling surgeries, rooming patients, taking vitals, orders, document care of patients via electronic medical record, medication refills and routing phone calls.
  • 1+ years of OBGYN experience preferred


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Certificate Graduate of Accredited Surgical Technologist Program
  • Required High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year Surgery Preferred
  • Required Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
