Skyline Windows is a fourth generation family owned and operated business. We are best known for designing, manufacturing, and installing custom windows, window wall systems, and terrace doors. Position Summary:

The Factory Engineer holds a key role in the review of shop drawings for windows and doors. This includes analyzing the project, inputting data into the fenestration software, making revisions, and communicating with project engineers to verify the accuracy of the information. Also, creating and reviewing models of new extrusions in the software, ensuring that the relationships between the pieces are accurate, printing and reviewing the order package report and other financial reports for the factory manager, and releasing the job to the project managers. Additionally, cross-checking models and jobs before they are sent for production and ensuring that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure the quality and accuracy of the final products.


Essential Functions:

Orders:

  • Review the accuracy of shop drawings for windows and doors to ensure they are error-free.
  • Communicate with project engineers to discuss project feasibility and find solutions.
  • Create new aluminum extrusions in the software and new relationships between the pieces.
  • Elaborate cut size checking in AutoCAD for review
  • Input data into the fenestration software and adjust as needed.

RFQ:

  • Create the phases for production.
  • Release and print reports, including the bill of materials to Factory Project Managers for production.
  • Collaborate with Factory Project Managers to ensure that all necessary information is included in the shop drawings and reports.

Financial Statements:

  • Verify the labor costs for units and accessories.
  • Ensure that all costs associated with glass, metal, hardware, and gaskets are included.
  • Create financial reports for the factory manager to ensure the efficient use of resources and cost control.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience reading shop drawings
  • Understanding take-offs
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • AutoCad knowledge
  • MS Office (Excel & Word)
  • Ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent time management skills, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • VisualC++ programming a plus

Experience & Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or minimum of three years related work experience

  • Ability to process verbal communications provided throughout the workday
