Job Overview

The Dispatch/Router plays a critical role in supporting the efficiency and success of daily transportation operations. This position is responsible for planning, optimizing, and maintaining delivery and pickup routes using routing software such as RoadNet Anywhere. The Dispatch/Router works closely with Transportation leadership and drivers to ensure efficient route execution, balanced workloads, timely deliveries, and exceptional customer service. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, logistics analysis, and working in a fast-paced environment.

What does your day look like?

Some of your duties may include:

  • Develop daily route assignments based on scheduling needs and customer requirements using RoadNet Anywhere.
  • Evaluate incoming pickups, deliveries, and route assignments to ensure balanced workloads and maximum productivity.
  • Assist the Transportation department with address corrections, route updates, and geographic routing support.
  • Respond to driver concerns and road-related issues to maintain operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform routine route analysis and assist with planning for new or expanded routes.
  • Meet regularly with Transportation leadership to review routing performance and operational needs.
  • Monitor productivity and staffing metrics while preparing reports related to workload and operational performance.
  • Conduct routine system maintenance within RoadNet Anywhere, including employee numbers, geo codes, service times, and route pass maintenance.
  • Assist with special transportation requests and support vehicle utilization planning to match customer needs with the appropriate equipment.
  • Coordinate PM scheduling and provide driver support as needed.

Things you need to be able to do:

  • Proficiency with RoadNet Anywhere or similar routing software.
  • Strong understanding of transportation logistics, routing, and geographic planning.
  • Ability to analyze data and make independent decisions regarding workload and resource allocation.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide timely follow-up and support to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to sit and process data for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive reaching and bending movements.

Things that are a plus but not a deal-breaker:

  • 3+ years of experience in routing, logistics, dispatching, or transportation operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience working in food distribution or fleet transportation environments preferred.

SCHEDULE: Sunday - Thursday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
