
Plant Custodian - Western Ave Headquarters - FT
Job Description
Job Objective:
To ensure the physical plant and all adjacent properties are consistently clean, safe, and well maintained by performing routine custodial duties, monitoring facility conditions, and supporting a healthy and efficient operational environment. This position reports to Director of Property Management, Facilities and Grounds who evaluates performance annually.

Essential Job Functions:
- Perform all assigned custodial and related cleaning tasks throughout the facility.
- Maintain familiarity with the cleaning needs of the physical plant and operate all custodial equipment, supplies, and chemicals safely and effectively.
- Clean and sanitize all restroom fixtures, including toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, soap dispensers, and paper product holders.
- Empty restroom trash containers.
- Restock paper towels, toilet tissue, and soap as needed.
- Sweep all warehouse floors and remove debris.
- Empty trash receptacles throughout the facility.
- Vacuum and dust office areas as directed.
- Vacuum all entrance and exit area rugs.
- Sweep all remaining floor areas, including corners.
- Wet mop the Employee Entrance as directed.
- Clean all mirrors, interior windows, and glass doors.
- Pick up and sweep trash and debris from plant docks and annex areas.
- Remove litter and debris from parking lots and surrounding exterior areas.
- Follow all plant and departmental safety rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all label instructions for the safe and appropriate use of cleaning chemicals.
- Use universal precautions when handling blood or other bodily fluids.
- Work to maintain the security and safety of the plant.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Education and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including work schedules and product label directions for the safe and proper use of cleaning chemicals.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Familiarity with and ability to use universal precautions when handling blood or other bodily fluids.
- Good communication skills for interacting effectively with staff and supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Flexible availability.
- Able to frequently bend, twist, reach above shoulder level, push and pull, crouch or stoop, kneel, repetitively use feet, and use head and neck in a twisting or static motion and to look up and/or down, and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
