Job Description
- Troubleshoot point of sale problems.
- Effectively train and direct the activities of cashiers assigned to the front end and set the standard for customer service.
- Ensure that associates assigned to the front-end consistently follow all policies and procedures including established safety procedures; communicate issues to the manager.
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
- Perform register sales transaction quickly and accurately in accordance with cash control procedures and customer service guidelines.
- Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management.
- Acts as lead cashier without formal supervisory responsibilities in training and reviewing the work of cashiers.
- Assists with the work schedule of cashiers.
- Assist management in the interviewing of new cashiers.
- Relay communication to associates from management and vice versa.
- Watch for shoplifters and take action, in line with Elder’s policy, that discourages shoplifting.
- Provide motivation and leadership to associates in the assigned department.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School degree, some college preferred.
- Prior experience managing associates and handling cash, preferably in a retail environment.
- A commitment to service, excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to take leadership role in training and coaching team members on skills needed to positively impact sales.
- Ability to communicate with associates and customers.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Maintain composure while supervising multiple tasks and handling customer complaints.
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of retail computer systems, electronic cash registers, Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication skills strongly preferred.
