
Operating Room Liaison (ORL) - Sterile Processing
Job Description
The Specialist works directly with surgeons, nurses, technologists, SPD personnel, and leadership to support endoscopic and surgical equipment, coordinate instrument reprocessing workflows, improve turnaround times, reinforce regulatory compliance, and enhance overall procedural efficiency. This role is highly visible and embedded within daily operations, acting as a trusted liaison between clinical teams, sterile processing, and vendor support functions
What You’ll Do
- Provide on-site support for surgical procedures, including:
- Equipment setup, troubleshooting, calibration, and functional checks
- Point-of-use guidance for care, handling, and transport of instruments and scopes
- Serve as a day-to-day clinical resource for physicians, nurses, and technologists regarding device use, workflow optimization, and best practices
- Assist OR and Endoscopy teams with room readiness, case flow, and equipment availability to minimize delays and cancellations
- Act as the primary liaison between OR and SPD to ensure seamless instrument and scope reprocessing workflows
- Help coordinate instrument and endoscope inventories, tray accuracy, and case-cart readiness
- Identify and escalate issues related to missing instruments, damaged equipment, or reprocessing bottlenecks

Minimum Requirements
- Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience required as an Endoscopy Technician, Sterile Processing Technician, or Surgical Technologist.
- Certification (preferred):
- CRCST / CSPDT
- CER
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 25-50lbs. Working in environment with fumes, chemicals, vibrations, heat, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
