
Adjunct Intro to Construction Instructor (Goodwill Career Education)
Job Description
The Introduction to Construction is responsible for delivering classroom instruction and hands-on training for students enrolled in the Home Builders Institute (HBI) Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training (PACT) Core program. PACT Core is an industry-recognized introductory construction training program designed to prepare individuals for entry-level employment and apprenticeship opportunities in the residential construction and skilled trades industries.
The instructor will teach foundational construction skills using the HBI PACT Core curriculum, which includes construction safety, OSHA awareness, tool identification and usage, construction math, blueprint reading, employability skills, communication, and an introduction to multiple construction trades. The program is designed to help students develop the technical knowledge, workplace readiness, and professional behaviors necessary for success in the construction industry.
The ideal candidate will combine real-world construction experience with a passion for workforce development, student engagement, and career preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver HBI PACT Core curriculum in classroom and lab settings
- Teach foundational construction skills, safety procedures, and proper tool usage
- Provide hands-on training and supervise student skill development
- Monitor student attendance, performance, and progress
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment
- Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials and employment opportunities
Qualifications:
- Experience in construction, carpentry, or related skilled trades required
- Minimum of two years prior teaching, workforce training, or mentoring experience required
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction best practices
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
