Position Summary

The role of Biomedical Equipment Technician reports to the Biomedical Manager. This position is responsible for providing basic medical equipment services under the technical guidance and supervision of the manager. 

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Perform Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities on low-impact medical equipment
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities on low-impact medical equipment
  • Perform Incoming Inspection (II) activities on low-impact medical equipment
  • Perform CM, PM, or II activities on high-impact and/or complex medical equipment under the supervision of the Biomed Department’s management and/or more experienced technicians
  • Work with, direct, and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients
  • Discuss medical equipment status and functionality with clinicians and leadership
  • Assist with projects as assigned
  • Maintain an accurate and timely work order history
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the medical equipment asset inventory
  • Expand technical expertise through ongoing training, mentoring, and education

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree or higher in a technical/electronics field, equivalent military training, or equivalent technical work experience, required.
  • Licensure and Certifications: Certified associate in biomedical technology (CABT) preferred designation. Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance, required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 years’ experience working with medical equipment in a Biomed Department or equivalent institution preferred. Previous experience with computers, CMMS functionality, and use of associated test equipment, required.

 

Work Environment: This position will spend 60% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment and 40% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will serve a culturally and linguistically diverse population. This position has potential for exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
