Position Summary

The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist reports to the Sleep Lab Manager and provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment support for patients with sleep disorders. This role performs in-center polysomnography and home sleep apnea testing, delivers diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, ensures accurate data acquisition and scoring, and provides direct patient education and high-quality, compassionate care.

Essential Position Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED, required. Completion of A-STEP educational modules administered through the AASM.
  • Licensure and Certifications: BLS, required. National sleep credential required: RST (Registered Sleep Technologist), RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist), SDS (Sleep Disorders Specialist), or CPSGT (Certified Polysomnographic Technician).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a sleep lab, preferred (including in-center PSG and/or HSAT). Experience with patient education, PAP titration support, and accurate study scoring/documentation is preferred.

 

Work EnvironmentThis position will spend 60% of the time walking and/or standing while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 40% of the time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position may be exposed to communicable disease and bodily fluids. This position will serve a culturally and linguistically diverse patient population.
