The Lead Software Security Architect plays a critical role in safeguarding Hyland's products and services by ensuring secure design, rigorous testing, and proactive vulnerability management. In this role, you will work closely with engineering teams to promote secure coding practices, identify potential risks, and drive a company-wide culture of security. Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do.
- Provide clear guidance and mentorship to software and test engineers on secure development practices, identifying insecure code, and leveraging data to monitor and continuously improve those practices.
- Drive threat modeling for products in scope; review threat models, advise on appropriate tools and techniques, and create or contribute to system-level threat models.
- Review security findings and serve as primary approver for Critical and High severity determinations; monitor vulnerability remediation for adherence to company SLAs and provide guidance on Risk Acceptance requests.
- Serve as the primary contact for security-related questions for assigned products, coordinating with subject matter experts and regularly validating the effectiveness of security verification tools.
- Operate as a trusted advisor on security issues and trends, providing secure development consulting services grounded in deep expertise and best practice knowledge.
- Mentor, coach, and provide feedback to team members while collaborating effectively across time zones with US, India, and EU-based teams.
Role Essentials
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of progressive application security experience, preferably within a software product development organization or working with well established security mature companies.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience designing, building, or testing security for web and API-based architectures.
- Strong understanding of security vulnerabilities, attacker exploit techniques, and remediation methods, including evolving cryptography standards and practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and influence team members and business partners, with demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
What We'd Like to See
- 3+ years of experience working with stakeholders across multiple functions in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.
- Strong familiarity with common languages and tools used in Microsoft stack-based web and API applications, with the ability to review and recommend security improvements.
- Experience collaborating across time zones, specifically with US and India-based engineering teams.
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills with the capacity to context-switch while remaining productive and delivering sound guidance.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain professionalism, handle sensitive information with discretion, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
