Position Summary
We are seeking a full-time Area Medical Leader to join our team in Houston, TX. This role provides both clinical and administrative leadership support to our local Houston clinicians. There will be requirements to fulfill minimal clinical shifts as well as provide mentorship and medical leadership for the area. Key Responsibilities
- Provide Clinical Leadership & Oversight: Deliver overall medical direction and clinical support to clinicians and staff across assigned clinics, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to standards.
- Lead Clinician Recruitment, Hiring & Retention: Partner with recruitment to attract, evaluate, hire, and retain high-performing clinicians; support compensation discussions and workforce planning.
- Oversee Clinician Onboarding, Training & Development: Ensure effective onboarding, ongoing training, and professional development of clinicians, including mentorship and clinical competency support.
- Ensure Adequate Clinical Staffing & Scheduling: Collaborate with operations and scheduling teams to maintain full shift coverage, optimize staffing levels, and minimize patient wait times.
- Maintain Clinical Quality, Safety & Compliance: Drive quality assurance initiatives, monitor clinical metrics, and ensure compliance with state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Monitor and Improve Clinical Performance Metrics: Analyze clinician performance, documentation, coding trends, and operational dashboards to identify improvement opportunities and drive outcomes.
- Support Clinical Operations & Strategic Initiatives: Serve as a key leader in implementing organizational initiatives, clinical protocols, and process improvements across the service area.
- Act as a Clinical Resource & Liaison: Provide guidance to clinicians and staff, resolve clinical or operational issues, and serve as a liaison between medical leadership, operations, and external stakeholders.
- Provide Direct Patient Care Coverage: Maintain clinical competency by working scheduled shifts (~8 shifts per month) within the urgent care setting.
- Manage Risk, Compliance, and Regulatory Requirements: Oversee risk mitigation efforts, ensure proper supervision agreements, maintain licensure compliance, and support regulatory functions (e.g., lab, radiation safety, or pharmacy oversight as applicable).
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted TX license for NP/PA or MD/DO
- Board certification or eligibility, as applicable
- Active DEA license (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to treat patients of all ages
- Active BLS certification
- EHR proficiency
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays
- DOT certification required or willingness to obtain (fees covered)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast‑track experience
- Strong procedural skills (e.g., suturing, splinting, wound care)
- Experience with initial x‑ray interpretation prior to radiology over‑read
