
Stroke Coordinator
Job Description
Essential Job Function:
- Participates in leading the Stroke Program, supporting compliance with stroke center certifying agencies and regulatory requirements.
- Responds to stroke emergencies and evolving clinical conditions, providing expert clinical support while managing transitions between services, clinicians, and external continuum-based services.
- Assists in implementation of the performance improvement process of the Stroke Program.
- Provides leadership for the department, including orientation, continuing education and clinical development.
- Supports provision and development of compulsory and optional stroke education and training needs for staff, providers, patients, and the community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Experience:
- Required: 2 years as a Registered Nurse in an acute hospital setting and 1 year of relevant clinical experience specific to stroke patients.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider; Stroke nursing certification or Stroke Coordinator certification after 1 year.
