
Massage Therapist
Job Description
Essential Job Function:
- Massages soft body tissues to relieve discomfort and provide treatment for injuries, wellness maintenance or medical conditions.
- Applies pressure to specific parts of the body with the hands and fingers to release muscle tension and bring relief from related symptoms.
- Discusses patient concerns, medical histories and specific stresses or pains to develop the most effective approach to massage treatment.
- Develops personalized treatment plans for individual patients that specify massage types, treatment areas and treatment frequency.
- Refers patients to other professionals and therapists when appropriate and necessary to treat additional symptoms.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: Graduation of an accredited massage and bodywork therapy program.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year of experience working as a massage therapist in a corporate, multi-purpose, commercial, or hospital facility.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Licensure as a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist; Proof of passing one of the following: MBLEx, NCETMB, or NCETM; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
