
Medical Laboratory Technician - PRN
Job Description
Essential Job Function
- Performs all processes associated with testing of laboratory specimens, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Conducts quality control and assurance activities to maintain accuracy in specimen testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintains and troubleshoots complex instrumentation and test systems, documenting corrective actions prior to releasing testing results to contribute to reliable test outcomes.
- Prioritizes duties and manages workload to meet established laboratory turnaround times for efficient patient care and treatment decisions.
- Stays updated on annual competencies, continuing education assignments, and regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with safety and compliance policies and procedures.
- Practices efficient use of supplies and actively participate in inventory control to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: Associate's Degree in medical laboratory technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.
Experience
- Preferred: 1 year working as a technologist in a hospital or similar physician office laboratory
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Must have Medical Laboratory Technician certification in one of the following certifications upon hire:- Medical Laboratory Technician with ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or Medical Laboratory Technician with AMT (American Medical Technologists)
