
Global IT Configuration Engineer Manager

As the IT Configuration Engineer Manager – Messaging, you will provide technical leadership and operational expertise across BCG’s messaging platforms, partnering closely with architecture, security, infrastructure, and product teams. You will contribute to platform strategy, drive service improvements, support enterprise-scale messaging capabilities, and help guide teams through ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
Lead engineering, administration, and continuous improvement of enterprise messaging platforms
Support and enhance technologies including Outlook (Windows, Mac & mobile), MS Teams, Slack, and email security gateways
Partner with architects and cross-functional teams during solution design and implementation phases
Design, manage, and optimise Exchange On-Premise and Exchange Online environments, including hybrid configurations
Configure and manage TLS, PKI, and certificate management for secure email transport
Troubleshoot and resolve complex messaging and collaboration platform issues
Contribute to messaging security, compliance, and delivery optimization initiatives
Collaborate with Agile teams to support product delivery and continuous improvement efforts
Own and enforce DMARC, DKIM, and SPF policies — from initial configuration through to p=reject enforcement and ongoing monitoring
Manage advanced email security configurations including anti-spam, anti-phishing, safe links, safe attachments, and data loss prevention
Investigate and resolve email deliverability issues, spoofing attempts, and phishing threats across the enterprise
Identify opportunities to apply AI/ML models for anomaly detection, spam classification, and intelligent routing within the messaging ecosystem
Contribute to the organisation's AI-in-messaging roadmap and prototype solutions that reduce manual effort and improve platform resilience
Build and maintain real-time automation solutions using PowerShell, Graph API, and scripting frameworks to streamline messaging operations
Coach and support team members while fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams
- Deep, hands-on expertise with DMARC, DKIM, and SPF — including policy design, enforcement strategy, and reporting (DMARC Analyser, Agari, or similar)
- Strong experience with Exchange On-Premise and hybrid Exchange Server deployments, including migration, coexistence, and DAG management
- Proficiency with Active Directory (AD / Azure AD) in the context of mail flow, connectors, and identity-linked messaging configurations
- Solid understanding of TLS (opportunistic and enforced), certificate management, and secure mail transport across organisational boundaries
- Advanced email security knowledge spanning anti-spam, anti-phishing, spoofing protection, and compliance controls in M365 / Exchange environments
- Experience administering platforms including Outlook, Slack, MS Teams, and Mimecast
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across large-scale enterprise environments
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across global technology teams
- Experience coaching team members and contributing to a collaborative team environment
You will work closely with teams across BCG’s global IT organization, including Identity, Security, Hosting, Enterprise Architecture, and Solution Architecture teams to support secure, scalable, and reliable collaboration services. You will also partner with QA teams, SaaS Engineering peers, Sustaining Engineers, Agile Coaches, and Scrum Masters to support operational excellence and continuous improvement across the Digital Collaboration portfolio.
This role collaborates across geographically distributed teams and contributes to enterprise-wide initiatives focused on messaging, collaboration, compliance, and user experience transformation.
NICE TO HAVE
- Microsoft certifications: MS-203 (Messaging Administrator) or MS-500 (Security Administrator)
- Experience with BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) and logo-in-email configurations
- Knowledge of email forensics and header analysis for phishing investigation
- Exposure to SIEM integration with email security platforms (Sentinel, Splunk)
- Experience with zero-trust email security models or Secure Email Gateway migration projects
