Job Summary
Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church is seeking a dedicated and faith-filled Pastoral Assistant to support the mission of the parish through administrative, pastoral, and organizational support. This part-time role assists the Pastor and Pastoral Associate in fostering a welcoming environment, coordinating ministries, supporting sacramental life, and helping parishioners engage more deeply in the life of the Church.
Job Responsibilities
Parish Hospitality and Pastoral Care
- Serve as a welcoming presence to parishioners and visitors
- Respond to calls, emails, and inquiries with professionalism and charity
- Maintain confidentiality of parishioner and pastoral information
Parish Communications
- Prepare weekly bulletins, announcements, and communications
- Coordinate publicity for parish events and ministries
- Assist with mailings and stewardship efforts
Ministry Coordination
- Recruit and communicate with ministry leaders and volunteers
- Assist in scheduling and organizing parish events
- Maintain ministry records and encourage parish involvement
Sacramental and Liturgical Support
- Assist with sacramental records and preparation materials
- Coordinate baptisms, weddings, and funerals
- Support liturgical ministers and seasonal preparations
- Facilitate communication among clergy, staff, and volunteers
Evangelization and Faith Formation
- Support initiatives such as Alpha, OCIA, Bible studies, and small groups
- Welcome and assist those exploring the Catholic faith
- Help coordinate faith formation programs and parish missions
- Promote opportunities for prayer, service, and discipleship
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain parish databases and records
- Prepare correspondence and reports
- Manage supplies, calendars, and meeting schedules
- Attend staff meetings and assist with special projects
Job Qualifications
Required
- Practicing Catholic in good standing
- Commitment to Catholic teachings and parish mission
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and communication tools
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, communications, or related field
- Parish or administrative experience
- Familiarity with parish software and communications platforms
