Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for a Sr. Program Manager-Logistics & Site Installation to join our team. This is a hybrid role based out of our Plano, Texas, location.

SCOPE:

The Senior Program Manager-Logistics & Site Installation is responsible for planning and managing the logistics, site delivery, unloading, rigging, placement, installation coordination, and turnover of modular cooling plants, chillers, gas engine modules, electrical power delivery trial sets, and related infrastructure equipment. This role serves as the primary field interface among manufacturing, project management, engineering, logistics providers, heavy-haul carriers, crane and rigging contractors, general contractors, EPC contractors, MEP contractors, customers, AHJs, third-party inspectors, and commissioning teams. The role is responsible for ensuring that equipment is delivered, received, installed, inspected, documented, and handed over safely, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable project requirements, customer requirements, OSHA requirements, permits, local codes, AHJ requirements, and applicable industry standards. This position collaborates with global stakeholders across Japan and the U.S. to align priorities, enable effective execution, and support MHIA’s long-term business objectives.

 

The ideal candidate will have at least nine (9) years of experience in construction, site installation, logistics coordination, industrial equipment installation, modular systems, power generation, HVAC, data center infrastructure, or a related field.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Logistics, Transportation, and Site Delivery

  • Plan and coordinate logistics, transportation, heavy-haul delivery, site access, unloading, rigging, and placement of modular cooling plants, chillers, gas engine modules, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing sites, logistics providers, heavy-haul carriers, freight forwarders, crane companies, rigging contractors, and project teams to ensure safe and timely delivery.
  • Review transportation plans, delivery routes, site access conditions, laydown areas, unloading zones, crane locations, and delivery sequencing.
  • Coordinate oversized and overweight load requirements, road permits, route surveys, escort requirements, delivery windows, and site arrival planning.
  • Confirm that equipment dimensions, weights, lifting points, center of gravity, shipping configuration, and handling requirements are properly documented and communicated.
  • Manage site receiving activities, including delivery inspection, damage checks, missing parts identification, photo documentation, and receiving reports.
  • Coordinate preservation, storage, protection, and temporary laydown requirements for delivered equipment.

Site Installation and Field Execution

  • Manage site installation activities, including offloading, lifting, rigging, placement, leveling, anchoring, alignment, and installation handoff.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, EPC contractors, MEP contractors, civil contractors, electrical contractors, mechanical contractors, crane companies, and rigging contractors.
  • Confirm site readiness before delivery and installation, including foundations, housekeeping pads, and anchors
  • bolt locations, crane pads, access roads, clearances, embedded items, utilities, and laydown areas.
  • Review and support lift plans, rigging plans, method statements, installation work packages, job hazard analyses, and site execution plans.
  • Monitor field installation progress, constraints, risks, schedule impacts, quality issues, and installation-related punch items.
  • Coordinate resolution of field issues related to equipment handling, placement, alignment, anchoring, interface points, access constraints, and installation quality.
  • Ensure installation activities are performed in accordance with approved drawings, installation manuals, project specifications, customer requirements, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Support turnover from installation to mechanical completion, commissioning readiness, and final handover.

Permits, Codes, AHJs, and Compliance

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers of Record, contractors, customers, AHJs(Authority Having Jurisdiction), and inspectors to confirm applicable permits, inspections, code requirements, and site-specific requirements.
  • Track permit and inspection readiness related to transportation, site access, crane operations, lifting, rigging, mechanical installation, electrical installation, fuel gas systems, fire safety, and commissioning turnover.
  • Confirm that required permits, inspections, and approvals are in place before starting applicable field activities.
  • Support coordination with building officials, electrical inspectors, mechanical inspectors, fire marshals, gas utility representatives, environmental consultants, and other AHJs.
  • Verify that delivered equipment includes required nameplates, UL / ETL / CSA / NRTL labels, approved submittals, installation manuals, test records, and compliance documentation.
  • Identify and escalate unlabeled, modified, imported, or custom-built equipment that may require field evaluation by a qualified NRTL or field evaluation body.
  • Ensure field modifications are reviewed and approved by the manufacturer, Engineer of Record, customer, AHJ, and applicable certification body before execution.
  • Maintain compliance documentation, including permit records, inspection records, label photos, field evaluation reports, test records, installation checklists, and turnover packages.

Safety, Quality, and Risk Management

  • Ensure all logistics, lifting, rigging, unloading, and installation activities comply with OSHA requirements, customer site safety rules, contractor safety requirements, lift plans, rigging plans, JHA/JSA, LOTO procedures, and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture among internal teams, subcontractors, logistics providers, crane companies, and installation crews.
  • Review and support job hazard analyses, lift plans, rigging plans, crane setup plans, ground bearing pressure requirements, traffic control plans, and emergency response plans.
  • Plan and execute inspections to verify installation quality, compliance, completeness, and readiness for turnover.
  • Identify, document, and communicate installation risks, quality issues, nonconformances, field constraints, and corrective actions.
  • Support root-cause investigation and resolution of issues related to transportation damage, site handling damage, installation quality, and warranty claims.
  • Ensure proper protection and preservation of equipment before and after installation.

Project Coordination, Schedule, and Documentation

  • Develop and maintain logistics and installation schedules aligned with the overall project schedule.
  • Coordinate installation activities with project management, engineering, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, customer, and subcontractor teams.
  • Establish installation work priorities and delegate field tasks based on staff, subcontractor capabilities, site conditions, and project needs.
  • Track schedule progress, resource needs, constraints, open issues, change impacts, and action items.
  • Identify and communicate changes or risks related to logistics, transportation, site installation scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Support Project Managers in evaluating change orders, cost impacts, schedule impacts, and recovery plans.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including delivery records, inspection reports, site photos, lift plans, rigging plans, installation checklists, punch lists, issue logs, and turnover packages.
  • Submit, maintain, and manage documentation in customer project management systems as required.
  • Regularly report installation status, safety performance, quality status, productivity, risks, and constraints to project leadership and customers.
  • Manage customer expectations related to site delivery, installation schedule, field constraints, inspection readiness, and turnover timing.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Logistics, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent field experience may be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of nine (9) years of experience in construction, site installation, logistics coordination, industrial equipment installation, modular systems, power generation, HVAC, data center infrastructure, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating delivery, unloading, rigging, placement, and installation of large mechanical, electrical, power generation, HVAC, or modular equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and driving permit, inspection, AHJ approval, and regulatory approval,
  • and compliance clearance processes with responsible stakeholders to support site delivery, installation, commissioning, and turnover of industrial equipment or infrastructure systems.
  • Demonstrated experience applying OSHA requirements, job hazard analyses, site safety procedures, LOTO, permit-to-work processes, and construction safety practices to support safe execution of site delivery, lifting, rigging, installation, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the installation of fuel gas systems, exhaust systems, combustion air systems, electrical interconnections, mechanical piping, and cooling systems for industrial equipment or infrastructure projects.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 / NEC, NFPA 37, fuel gas codes, fire code requirements, mechanical code requirements, and local permitting processes.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction drawings, general arrangement drawings, foundation drawings, anchor bolt plans, lifting drawings, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, installation manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of site logistics, heavy equipment handling, crane operations, rigging practices, lift plans, installation methods, and field coordination.
  • Understanding of applicable building codes, mechanical codes, electrical codes, fire codes, AHJ requirements, permits, inspections, and customer site requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate with general contractors, EPC contractors, MEP contractors, crane companies, rigging contractors, logistics providers, commissioning agents, inspectors, customers, and internal project teams.
  • Strong project coordination skills, including scheduling, resource planning, issue tracking, documentation management, risk identification, and stakeholder communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in active construction sites and industrial environments.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with modular cooling plants, chillers, cooling towers, pump skids, electrical skids, generator sets, gas engine modules, power modules, E-houses, or data center infrastructure equipment.
  • Experience in data center, power generation, industrial, utility, manufacturing, mission-critical, or large commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with heavy-haul transportation, oversized load coordination, route surveys, crane planning, rigging engineering, and site logistics planning.
  • Familiarity with UL, ETL, CSA, NRTL labeling requirements, UL 508A control panels, field evaluation processes, SCCR, nameplate requirements, and AHJ acceptance processes.
  • Experience coordinating with AHJs, fire marshals, electrical inspectors, mechanical inspectors, gas utilities, environmental consultants, and third-party commissioning agents.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing lift plans, rigging plans, method statements, installation work packages, JHA/JSA,
  • inspection and test plans, and turnover packages.
  • Experience with Procore, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, Bluebeam, or similar construction/project management tools.
  • OSHA-30 certification.
  • PMP certification or other project management certification.
  • Rigging, crane safety, lift planning, or NCCCO-related training or certification.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, mechanical completion, energization, gas-in, punch list closure, warranty investigation, and final handover.
  • Experience working with international equipment suppliers, factory-built modules, imported equipment, or custom-engineered packaged systems.
  • Strong understanding of quality documentation, inspection records, nonconformance management, corrective actions, and customer turnover documentation.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, talk, and/or hear; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Standard Monday through Friday work week. Weekend/late-night work if applicable.
  • Travel: 40% (as required by project/customer needs).
