The purpose of this job is to monitor student behavior and assist students during lunch, 3.5 hours per school day.


Responsibilities

  • Creates a respectful, positive, and pleasant environment in the cafeteria.
  • Implements procedures and practices that result in efficient entry and exit of students in the cafeteria.
  • Assists students as needed.  For example, helps younger children open milk, packets of ketchup, etc.
  • Assists students with special needs as appropriate.
  • Uses positive strategies to redirect inappropriate student behavior.
  • Follows established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe. 
  • Works collaboratively with administration, principals, secretaries, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Attends work and arrives to work on time.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Education/Experience:

  • No degree required.  Experience working with school-age students preferred.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates excellent verbal communication skills to deal effectively with students, parents, and school staff.  Also has the ability to read and write effectively.

Compensation:

  • $15 per hour
