The Role You Could Play
The Senior Network Engineer will be working in a tight knit team and will be responsible for building and maintaining the day-to-day operation of computer networks that MECCA relies on whilst maintaining a security first approach. Working closely with the security team you will be a key stakeholder in the cyber security framework and how we implement security. There are many exciting projects in the pipeline and this person will work with the business and external vendors to scope, implement and oversee the design and delivery of a new efficient and effective Store Network Infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the business.
The main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Design, implement, and support secure network solutions across Fortinet, Aruba, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Configure and manage Fortinet firewalls, SD-WAN, BGP routing, VPN, ZTNA, and SASE solutions.
Deploy and maintain Aruba switching and Fortinet/Meraki wireless environments, including 802.1x authentication.
Manage network access, security policies, and core services including NPS and CA servers.
Monitor network performance and lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident resolution.
Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and vendor teams to deliver network improvements and secure architectures.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support for ongoing capability and knowledge development.
What You Will Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
8+ years’ experience in network engineering within enterprise environments.
Strong experience with Fortinet firewalls, SD-WAN, BGP routing, IPsec, and secure network architecture design.
Hands-on experience managing cloud networking environments, particularly AWS, along with Fortinet and Meraki wireless solutions.
Solid understanding of network protocols and security best practices, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing protocols, and cyber security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS CSC.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex network issues and collaborate effectively across teams.
Relevant certifications such as Fortinet NSE4+ and CCNP/CCIE (or equivalent) are highly desirable.
Willing to travel interstate/New Zealand once per month (2-3 days at a time).
